BRADSHAW DOWN UNDER - NOVEMBER 2002

Bradshaw visited Sydney, Melbourne and New Zealand as part of his world wide tour.

In a low-key visit to Sydney's Harvey Norman and Myer Melbourne, Bradshaw promoted the WWE RAW video game.

Bradshaw talks on New Zealand in his latest diary entry at WWE.com, including a comment on the Melbourne Cup -

"Next I go to Sydney to hold a koala at the zoo, then home to host Monday night RAW at The World (the WWE restaurant in Times Square) after appearing on CNBC (on Nov. 18)".

"Had a ball in Auckland, New Zealand. The people here are just fantastic. It is just days before the Louis Vuitton Cup, which is the qualifier for the America's Cup. The place is abuzz with the summer starting and the racing season about to begin".

"Had appearances from early to late. The fans as usual brought me beer at the signings -- very appreciated. New Zealand has great beer and even better seafood. A lot of Pacific Islanders here. Why are they all so big? How can they get that big on seafood? Found out The Rock spent a year here in his youth".

"Today was Melbourne Cup day. What a great party. Miss Cindy and I went on a pub crawl, and believe me, we were crawling by the end of the night. The Melbourne Cup is a national holiday and a great excuse to drink adult beverages; we don't need an excuse in Texas".

"Hi, I just got back from Moore Park and the Bradshaw autograph signing. There were very few people there, I'm surprised that there was little to no promotion about it, there weren't even any posters up around the place for him, and several Harvey Norman employees only knew he was coming because I had to tell them!

It was a great appearance though, people could get as many things signed as they wanted, not like at Toys 'R' Us with Kane and Terri.
It did seem like it was an appearance that was about the fans.

All in all I think everyone had a great time

WILLIAM REGAL TOUR - MARCH 2001

PHOTO GALLERY

William Regals tour of Australia was a success with a tired WWF Commissioner spending 2 hectic days down under, spending almost an entire day with interviews and media work.

On Saturday he boarded a boat and sailed the Sydney Harbour in which WWFDU conducted an interview with an out of character William Regal.

One of the stops was the Opera House where 80+ fans had gathered and William signed autographs for everyone.

Sports Central at Fox Studios was a big evening with 2 fans lining up at 10am Saturday morning for his scheduled appearance at 6:30pm.

"I was at the William Regal appearance at the opera house on Saturday. It was pretty good to see him in person. He was obviously jet-lagged and he had a black eye too. He arrived on a boat. People asked him "Are you besmirched, William?" His reply was simply a blue-lipped smile and a small nod. He signed a few autographs and had photos taken etc. They gave out CDs and T-shirts etc." - Reece Jones

"I saw William Regal today at Fox Sports Central. It was great! He is a really nice guy, kind of shy but really nice. Not as good as a turn out as I expected, but not too bad. I was about the 15 person in line and shook his hand and got an autograph, they had WWF Volume 5 or a picture there for you to get signed, all free! " - Jason Dobbins

Reader Tim Watters sent this in : I thought I'd tell you about Regals interview on Channel V (Music videos) in Australia. It started off with Regal and the host talking about his black eye (very bloodshot) and Regal said that the midgets did it. He said it was the one with the "Mullet haircut". They then talked about him becoming Commissioner and then asked him what happened to Mick Foley. By the way, he did this all in shoot. Regal said that he took time off because his wife had a baby and that he will be back soonish. They then asked Regal if he wanted them to play a song and he requested Oasis with Cigarettes and Alcohol. When they came back, they took some calls. The first was a guy asking when the WWF would come to Australia. Regal basically said that there was no set date and that we needed to send E-mails to the WWF so they'd come. The second was a guy asking how to become a wrestler. Regal said that first you had to have your brain removed and to keep going and that wouldn't be easy. Then there were a couple of questions like "What does the P stand for in the Regal regime."

Then someone asked what Jericho's Pee tasted like and Regal replied that it was tart and he had tasted worse before. Someone also asked what was it like to kiss Trish but he just smiled. He said that it was painful to be stunned by Austin as well. They then showed a clip of Regal talking to Vince.

The host asked what Vince was like and Regal said he was really nice. They then talked about the WCW purchase and Regal said they would be run separately and any WCW wrestler that didn't work hard would be fired. The host then made some really lame jokes about wrestlers and made an ass of himself and you could tell Regal thought he was and idiot.

A caller than rang and asked who his idols were and he said the Dynamite Kid.

Another caller asked about Lawler and Regal went over what we already know. He then asked how often did Regal brush his teeth, because he must haft to brush often to get the taste of Vince's ass out of his mouth. The caller hung up and Regal joked about him being a dickhead. They talked about Regals schedule and talked about WrestleMania. The host then thanked him for coming and Regal waved to the crowd. The whole interview, Regal seemed like he didn't want to be there but he seemed really nice.

The Richmond Football Club (AFL) ran through a banner (above) early in 2000 - "Finally the tiger has come back to the MCG, Hear the Millions and Millions of Tiger fans chant the Tigers name as we lay the Smackdown on these pack of jabronies"

Coincidently the Melbourne Cricket Ground was renamed the "People's Ground" !

SHAWN MICHAELS TOUR - NOVEMBER 1998

Ground Zero, Saturday 21st November 1998

First LIVE appearance on Australian television. Participated in a quiz in which he actually won. Couple of questions - How many members in the band five. Shawn said 3 1/2 Ugly Phil said YES correct. Shawn said DAMN !! Hulk Hogan was mentioned. Shawn said "Who ?" Talked on the couch and played around with the action figures. Ugly Phil mentioned the popularity of WWF in America, Shawn said we have conquered the states and Europe and Australia is next on the list. And that the WWF is going mainstream in the media.

Phil had the British Bulldog figurine and mentioned it had a hole for his thumb. Shawn almost got in that the Bulldog is used to having someone putting a thumb up his #@! ........ (something to that affect !!) Basically promoted the figurines, new show and appearances. Overall a great start for HBK, the audience was behind him and they didn't ask him if it was fake.

Sydney Appearance, Sunday 22nd.

First appearance a HUGE success, some estimates of the amount of people who where there was 5000, but it was more like 1500. Or so I have been told.

"Shawn arrived to a huge reception at Toys'r'us, people even chanted H-B-K when he arrived!!!! He seemed to be really surprised at the reaction. People cued for about 50+ metres outside the doors and the area around the signing table was absolutely packed!!! You could hardly move!!! The security tried to clear passages but the push when the Heart Break Kid entered was HUGE !!!"

The crowd were well behaved and Shawn stayed over time to try and get through everyone. Overall, a great success. An opportunity of a life time for fans to meet him in person.

Triple M, Monday 23rd

The Grill Team were pumped and the questions certainly were well prepared. He was not in character for any part of the interview. One of the first questions was - " From parts unknown ? "

Shawn replied - " No, my parts are known !! "

Mention's the hectic schedule, they perform 250 days of the year. And there is no off season. They have been waiting so long to come to Australia, " I have always wanted to be the one to come over and unleash this tour, its great to be able to finally do this".

Dermit - That bloke the Undertaker, he's bad news !! Loose canon ?

Shawn - " You don't tell the Undertaker anything, you ask him nicely to do something. If he wants to do something his way, he usually gets it."
They actually played some WWF on air, last RAW when the cage is on fire and Jim Ross is screaming, THE CAGE IS ON FIRE THE CAGE IS ON FIRE........

Eddie mentions the WWF was the number 5 show in the US ratings last week. Beating Frasier, ER, Friends.

Briget - Is this all like acting ?

Eddie - OOOOOHHH !!!

Shawn - " No no no, this is sports entertainment " "Cannot fake chair shots " " Like General hospital with 300 pound guys !! " " Fans have alot to do with the outcome of the match. "

Briget - Can you walk down the street ?

Shawn - " Yes, but not alone. " He said that they are the most recognized athletes in the world.

He said that the pay scale for top athletes in wrestling are around the 2 - 3 million dollar mark. They also get some percentages of merchandise and PPV revenue."

" Higher the ratings, higher the pay scale " , Shawn replied.

When asked if he had been in any "serious" matches, he mentioned the fight he had with Bret Hart. HBK said that he soon found out that the match was not going to go as planned, and had to give it to him. Michael's then said that Bret doesn't like him and he doesn't like Bret, and Bret isn't in the Federation anymore.

On Bret Hart - " He wound up with the short end of the stick "
A well planned interview that went extremely well. Eddie heavily promoted channel 10's new WWF show which was surprising. They mentioned again and again Chadstone Toys r Us appearance. Although most people were already there as this interview was on at approx 5pm and his appearance was at 5:30pm.

Shawn said at the end, " Hope to see you next year, will bring everyone back !!!! "

Melbourne Appearance

Melbourne fans turned up and filled the entire Toys r Us shop plus the queue went all the way outside for what would have to be the biggest turn out ever for a wrestlers appearance in Melbourne.

The crowd were also well behaved and chants of HBK HBK HBK were loud and certainly welcomed Shawn into Melbourne.

Although he couldn't meet everyone the atmosphere and the "buzz" was certainly high enough to make everyone happy and made this appearance a great success.

Shawn is a true professional, an outstanding athlete and a great guy. He took time to visit the children's hospital and stay as long as he could at the appearances. At every appearance and on the radio he mentioned that next year he will bring everyone back.

Thank you Shawn and all those involved in promotions, scheduling and ' behind the scenes ' on behalf of the entire Australian wrestling for what has been an unbelievable, once in a lifetime experience for WWF Australian fans.

"Shawn on Cheez TV

"Shawn Michaels was on cheez TV on channel 10 yesterday morning. He was on before and after Pokemon (cartoon), he basically said the same as every other interview. He was asked what the difference between WCW and the WWF was, he answered that "The WWF is truly the WORLD wrestling federation, you don't see WCW coming to Europe and other places like that". Thanks to Jason

The appearance must of been taped when he was down. Its good to see because it re iterates WWF Superstars on channel 10.

"Shawn on Sports Tonight"

An interview took place on Sports Tonight Wednesday Night, it looked like he was in Sydney taking photos (perhaps for WWF magazine ?). Showed some WWF footage including WrestleMania 14 press conference. When asked if it is all real he blocked the camera and said That's it, and the lady who interviewed him started to Scream !!

"Shawn on Ugly Phil Top 30"

Shawn was on Ugly Phils Hot 30 Tuesday night. He answered questions from phone in's and also counted down the top 30.

"I'm Not Vince's bodyguard!!! Now Shawn Michaels watches his own back in the WWF"

When asked about DX Shawn said he didn't like the fact that he was thrown out of the group he created!!! He also stated that when his back in the ring DX had better watch out 'cos he's coming after them!!!! One listen asked if he would ever rejoin DegenerationX???

He replied by saying "Why should I have to rejoin the group I created??? I may rejoin forces with them sometime in the future but certain things would have to change. Certain members would have to go, I could get back with DX but it would have to be MY way or the HIGHWAY!!! Its really up to them, you know. You see where ever HBK goes, the spotlight goes, and tag alongs follow. That's DX, a group of Tag Alongs!!!"

He left the program by saying that he would be coming back to Australia next year and he'd be bringing all he friends with him for a WWF Australian tour.

"Sydney Appearance a Success !!"

Judging from the emails from fans in Sydney over 1000 people saw Shawn with a queue of 50m to see the Heart Break Kid. Here's some comments :

" Shawn arrived to a huge reception at Toys "R" Us, people even chanted H-B-K when he arrived!!!! He seemed to be really surprised at the reaction. People cued for about 50+ metres outside the doors and the area around the signing table was absolutely packed!!! You could hardly move!!! The security tried to clear passages but the push when the Heart Break Kid entered was HUGE !!! "

Chris - " I was at the HBK signing and he said that he loved it in Aus and that next year he was coming back and bringing all the rest oif the WWF superstars with him for a tour of Australia !!"

Fluent Comm. - "Shawn was soooooo nice he even went overtime . we were there at 11am and didn't get to meet him until 1:30 and people were still waiting in the endless line after we left. He is definitely worth meeting! he said that he's coming back next year and bringing his friends! although he wasn't on sports world today he will definitely be on Today tomorrow (the guy announced it enough times !!) "

Friday 16th July, 1999 - Melbourne

Appeared at Collingwood Football Club which was shown on Channel 10 news. Over 1000 screaming fans greeted him with Foley is God chants at Highpoint. Mick answered questions from the crowd, speaking for about 15mins. Mick went on to Triple M where he appeared on the Grill Team (real audio below) and then onto the Football at the MCG to see Richmond take on Melbourne.

8pm - Fox Fm Ugly Phil

Great interview / music segment where people could call up and talk to Mick himself.

11pm - Sports Tonight Channel 10

LIVE interview on Channel 10 which went really well. They showed some clips of him in the WWF throughout the interview and Tim Webster fired him up a bit having a go at Mr Socko.

Sunday 18th July 1999 - Sydney

1:45pm - Sydney Apperance

A great appearance at Mt Druit, more than 4000 fans welcomed Mick. A HUGE success to say the least. Mick said it was the biggest reception he had gotten before and the promoters couldn't believe it.
Here were some messages about the appearance -

"I just got back from seeing Mick Foley at Mt Druitt. The crowd was awesome! He said would you like to see WWF here? The crowd went off. He said that he would have to get someone onto it. He also said that this was the greatest reception he's ever got.

The AWF presented Mick with a T-Shirt. It was a great day had by all, except some people were pushing in line, which put a bit of a dampner on it for the people who had lined up for 4 hours."

"It was Sunday July 18th and more than 2000 people turned up to meet Mick Foley. Mick answered questions for about 15 minutes, he said that this is the biggest reception he has ever gotten before (even in the states). Mick signed autographs for at least an hour, i counted that i was the 15th person to get an autograph from him. All-in-all it took me 5hrs to get a autograph".

Saturday, July 17th 1999 - MELBOURNE

10am - Triple M Interview

Live interview on Triple M. He mentioned a group of fans who have been following him all over Melbourne.

12pm - Hard Rock Cafe

Mick had lunch with the 4 lucky winners from the MMM Grill Team competition. Even though this wasn't a confirmed public appearance he spent time signing autographs and taking photo's. A large crowd was down at the cafe and even though Mick was there for a short time, everyone enjoyed themselves.

2pm - Sport 927 Interview

Recorded an interview which will be on Sport 927 on Wednesday night on Nightmoves. Jacknife asked some real interesting questions which the transcript of this interview will be up soon.

7:45pm - Hey Hey its Saturday

Appeared on Red Faces, a great crowd reaction as he walks out. They showed some clips of him in the WWF and Daryl asked him about the mandible claw which was shown in the clips and Mr Socko. Daryl wanted him to put the claw on Red Simons but after Mick explained what it was they decided against it. Very funny stuff where he then judged the 3 acts on red faces.

8:30pm - High Risk Championship Wrestling

Well a absolute shock, nearly everyone was hoping he would make an appearance but I didn't think HRCW could pull it off. After intermission Mark Lewin comes out and says we have a special celebrity in the house tonight. The crowd chant - Foley, foley, foley and Mark says WWF Superstars MANKIND and out comes MICK FOLEY !!!

"The crowd go absolutely nuts, I could hardly hear was he was saying. He praised HRCW and wished them well, mentioned how friendly everyone has been and pointed at fans at ringside and said except these guys !! He finished by saying have a nice day !!".

Friday, July 16th 1999 - MELBOURNE

2:30pm - Collingwood Football Club

Around 500 people were at the club which the promoters could not believe because it wasn't advertised !! Mick signed autographs and met a friend know to us Melbourne fans as Mrs Wrestling - Sue. When he arrived at Highpoint a question was asked about his autobiography and he mentioned that he just caught up with Sue after 20+ years. He had a footballer in a headlock and this was shown on Channel 10 news.

4:30pm Highpoint Shopping Centre

Well my estimates were well over 1000, photographers, WWF camera's and more were everywhere. The crowd were extremely loud and at first Mick seemed a little shy.

Foley is God, Foley chants, King of Hardcore chants were aplenty.
Fans got to ask him questions at the beginning. One question that was asked - "did they make you fall of the Hell in the Cell cage ?" to which Mick laughed and explained no and Vince told him never to do it again.
He also told us about his ear and if anyone in Germany finds it to let him know !!

6:30pm - Triple M

Mick was extremely honest and when asked if it was rigged said YES !! but explained all the details in a candid way.
