The team at WWFDU have just returned, from what turned out to be a huge WWF Press Conference held at The Medallion Club in Colonial Stadium, Melbourne. Appearing at the conference were Vince McMahon, joined by Stacy Keibler and Mark Henry. A large media contingent, including reporters from 7, 9 and 10, The Age, Australian, Herald-Sun and many other media outlets attended, as well as about 250 wrestling fans. MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENTS: * There will be 1 show only in Melbourne, at Colonial Stadium on August 10, 2002. The Victorian minister for Tourism and Minister Responsible for Major Events - John Pandazopoulos, spoke about the impact the WWF will have on Victoria, and that "significant numbers of overseas and interstate visitors are excpected". "TV coverage related to the event will include a mini-documentary on Melbourne and Victoria, including regional attractions. Prominent Melbourne signage will also be placed at the venue". Media in attendance were the first to ask questions, followed by the fans. Vince was asked about local talent being used, but he believes that fans overseas havn't warmed to the idea and would "rather just see WWF superstars". When asked by WWFDU why it has taken over 10 years to come back to Australia, Vince replied that this was all part of the newer rebranding ond company focus. It was a decision to now finally push the product world wide. After the conference, we made our way to the centre of the areana, where North Melbourne Footballers presented Vince, Stacy and Mark with club jumpers. The 3 then spent 45 minutes taking photos and conducting short media interviews for the press. An interview was then conducted behind closed doors for Channel 7's Today Tonight.
