Credit : Colonial Stadium MEDIA RELEASE 11 April 2002 WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION™ Wrestles its way into Colonial Stadium The World Wrestling Federation Entertainment™ announced today that Colonial Stadium would host the only Australian show on their Global Warning Tour on Saturday August 10. Colonial Stadium Chief Executive Officer, Ian Collins, said he is delighted that the World Wrestling Federation™ is coming to the Stadium and believes that wrestling enthusiasts will also be thrilled with the choice of venue. Mr. Collins said, “Given that the seating at the Stadium allows for the best possible viewing, our patrons are in for a night of entertainment they won’t forget”. The Stadium’s lower tier level of seats will be moved inwards, enabling the World Wrestling Federation™ ring to be positioned in the centre of the arena and for fans to be as close as possible to the action. The seats will be moved 18 metres on the East boundary and 13 metres on the North boundary to create an unforgettable atmosphere. “The Stadium is able to show its versatility by bringing entertainment such as the World Wrestling Federation™ to Melbourne. A fact we are very proud of”, added Mr. Collins. With the fans close to the action and the roof closed, all the excitement and entertainment of the World Wrestling Federation™ will be captured, making for a memorable night. Mr McMahon, who was joined on stage by World Wrestling Federation™ Superstars, Stacy Keibler and Mark Henry, said ‘I am thrilled we are hosting an event in Melbourne. Australian fans are among the most fanatical in the World and we expect a huge crowd at Colonial Stadium for the Global Warning Tour.
