Global Warning: Herald Sun Article - Wrestling ManiaPosted by Simon on 10:00:52 09/08/02: This was a two page lift out from todays (Friday) herald sun. (also there is multiple pictures as well from Fan Frenzy) For once, it wasn't scripted. True wrestlemania can't be faked or hurriedly written into a dasardly plot. And yesterday, as 4000 fight worshippers met World Wrestling Entertainment superstars at the so-called Fan Frenzy convention, the emotions were real. There was a lot of love in the room and, at $45 a head with another 4000 expected at a Fan Frenzy sequel today, the WWE's romance with the Australian faithful is no doubt good for them, too. WWE executive vice-president Roger Marment said the event put the fans in touch with their idols. "The object of Fan Frenzy is to give the fans a chance to meet with talent, see them, get an autograph, have a few words and make them understand these guys are real human beings outside of the ring," he said. Mark Henry, listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the strongest man in the world, gave fans a lift by hoisting them in the air. Last night, WWE diva Stacy Keibler was bombarded with marriage proposals and kisses. All requests were respectfully considered because, after all, the convention is about WWE's army of supporters. "The talent are extremely happy with the event," Mr marment said said. "They said to the fans here are really getting into it." A four-day blitz of WWE-related events in one city is a relative rarity. "We get to do this for big events like Wrestlemania, so this is really special." WWE's Global Warning Tour is on at Colonial Stadium tomorrow.
